Jason is a deal lawyer with 20 years of experience. Having served as the General Counsel of a publicly traded U.S. bank and a privately held Korean trading company, Jason brings a deep understanding of business issues to his practice and uses such "frontline" expertise to drive deals to successful closings. Jason's practice focuses on representing domestic and foreign companies, financial institutions, funds, serial entrepreneurs, and high-net-worth individuals in:
- Commercial Financing – Factoring, asset based loan, expansion financing, trade
financing, inventory loan, purchase order financing, secured credit line, and
merchant account advance;
- Real Estate Financing – Acquisition loan, development loan, construction loan (with
or without take-out), hard money loan, interim loan (bridge and project),
mezzanine loan, joint venture financing, participating mortgage, real estate sale
and lease back, and wraparound;
- Commercial Transaction – Agencies and distributorships, technology transfers,
contract manufacturing, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions; and
- Real Estate Transaction – Acquisition and disposition, commercial leasing,
development, construction, and joint venture.
In addition to his private practice, Jason teaches International Business Transactions as an Adjunct Professor at USC Gould School of Law.
Jason is a member of Asian Real Estate Association of America, Inland Empire Chapter; International Association of Korean Lawyers; Korean American Bar Association of Southern California; Los Angeles County Bar Association; National Asian Pacific American Bar Association; Orange County Asian American Bar Association; and U.S. - Korea Law Foundation.
Prior to joining Margolis & Tisman LLP in 2011, Jason Kim was a partner at Snell & Wilmer LLP.
Jason is fluent in Korean and works comfortably with Korean legal documents.
