• Handles class actions and other complex cases; fraud in international joint ventures; other international trade disputes; sexual harassment, employment discrimination and other employment disputes; unfair competition and misappropriation of intellectual property; disputes relating to real estate, commercial and secured transactions; banking; and general business matters.
• Outside of dispute resolution, counsels businesses and business owners on a wide range of international and domestic issues.
Member of the Executive Board of the Cornell Law Association, Leadership Committee of the Asia Society of Southern California, Opera Council of the Los Angeles Opera, Board of Overseers of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of After-School All-Stars Los Angeles
(an after-school program personally established in 2002 by Arnold Schwarzenegger, now Governor of California).
Co-authored two books, “Arbitration” (1981) and “At-Will Termination in California” (1984).
• Practiced with Littler Mendelson PC, now the largest U.S. employment law firm (1979-1984); then opened own firm (1984-1989) and co-founded the firm now known as Margolis & Tisman LLP (1990).
• Arbitrator in American Arbitration Association proceedings (2005-2009).
• Judge, Chinese National Round of Jessup International Moot Court Competition (Beijing, 2008; Shenzhen, 2007; Beijing, 2006).
Learning Mandarin. Frequently visits China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
